WHAT IS COACHING?

Life coaching isn’t therapy. It isn’t consulting. It isn’t gurus selling answers. Instead, it’s about you learning to listen to yourself: what you want, what you stand for, and how to access this knowledge to walk courageously towards your truth.

Working with a certified life coach helps you build these skills in a consistent, accelerated way—similar to hiring a personal trainer at a gym. Coaches create a safe container for courageous self-discovery, empower you to recognize and act on the choices available to you, champion your innate creativity and wisdom, name things you may not see in yourself, and (yes, if you want) serve as your accountability buddy.

You will learn to trust yourself in a way you may not have allowed yourself (yet), and in the process make bold, life-changing leaps. Whether it’s starting a new business, leaving an unsatisfying job behind, or navigating tumultuous life changes, with the partnership of a coach you will reach your goals, experience transformative personal growth and gain skills in personal leadership that will serve you, and those around you, for life.

About Tina

I identify as a Chinese-American mother, immigrant daughter, survivor of trauma, and fierce Fire Sign (Western Leo/Eastern Tiger). My pronouns are she/her.

Prior to coaching, I worked 15 years in the technology industry as a UX/product designer, building design capacities at tiny startups and eventually co-leading multi-million-dollar software migrations at well-known institutions. Along the way, I have mentored dozens of young professionals on life goals and career trajectories.

Those moments of deeply felt connection, of being entrusted with the hopes and dreams of others, have meant more to me than any successful product launch or year-end bonus. So in 2025, I finally took the leap. I left the safe and well-paid world of my tech career to pursue life coaching full time.

I am currently undergoing rigorous training in the Co-Active Coaching Method, aiming to receive my CPCC certification by end of 2026. Certification is not required in the coaching industry, but I believe that training combined with my innate intuition and empathy create a potent toolset for serving clients.

I am currently accepting a limited number of clients at a reduced rate. If you are curious about exploring coaching together, schedule a sample session below!

FAQ

  • Coaching can feel therapeutic, but it is not therapy. The simple answer is that therapy tends to focus on past experiences and how they affect the present. Coaching tends to focus on the present and how that translates into future action. The two can work hand-in-hand, and many clients find having both a therapist and a coach helpful.

  • Professional certified coaches in the United States charge anywhere from $75-850 per hour. I will be operating on the lower end of that scale to ensure my services are as accessible as possible. I am currently experimenting with a sliding scale system while I complete my CPCC certification—check out the Pricing page. If cost is an issue, reach out and we can discuss ways to make it work for both of us.

  • My coaching style is warm, honest, and lovingly direct. I do not judge, shame, or question people’s choices—I am instead here to help clients understand them. I work best with clients who are communicative of their needs, willing to be open and vulnerable, and welcoming of discomfort in the name of their continued evolution and growth.

  • We will decide together, as it relates to what you are working to achieve. Once a week is most common, however bigger goals on shorter timelines can benefit from more closely spaced sessions. Likewise, if you have more time and space to work towards your goals, biweekly is also possible.

  • This depends so much on the style, self-awareness, goals, timeline and intentions of the client. Clients who have done years of therapy or other inner work sometimes progress towards their coaching goals more quickly because they can already access the language needed to pinpoint their intentions. The size and scope of the goal also greatly impacts the number of sessions. Ongoing check-ins and open communication will help me suggest a realistic number or cadence of sessions to support you.
